On Thursday, August 18, 2011, the Inlet Historical Society’s program will be “A Photographic History of Inlet” in the Town Hall at 7 PM. Society members and the public are invited.
Using photographs and postcards from collectors, former and present Town residents, the Town’s collection and from his own collection, Charles Herr will present the story of Inlet and some of the people important to the Town’s growth in the 20th century in a chronological review of the development of the Town of Inlet.
This presentation format was popular in the past when Mr. Herr presented the ‘Inlet Then and Now’ Society programs, both of which were repeated after numerous requests. Long time Inlet seasonal and full-time residents became part of the programs when the images provoked memories and responses from the audience that added more information for those present. While Mr. Herr will be the presenter, the audience is welcome to participate in the retelling of Inlet’s history.
This presentation will be similar except that it will include more photographs of the people who were part of Inlet’s history. Some of these have been received by Mr. Herr and by the Inlet Tourism Office since those earlier presentations mentioned above.
Members are invited also to renew their membership at this time and all members of the public are encouraged to consider becoming members to support the Society’s efforts to collect, preserve and present the heritage of Inlet’s people and their history.
